Pop Up Museum

This year at the fall conference we will have the FIRST EVER KAEA Pop Up Museum!

A Pop Up Museum is a temporary exhibit created by the people who show up to participate. Anyone attending the conference is invited to bring an object related to your journey into art education to share, like a community show-and-tell!

What’s a Pop Up Museum?

A Pop Up Museum is a temporary exhibit created by the people who show up to participate. It works by choosing a theme and venue and then inviting people to bring an object on-topic to share, like a community show-and-tell. Each participant writes a label for his or her object and puts it on display. A Pop Up Museum usually lasts for a few hours on one day, and focuses on bringing people together in conversation through stories, art, and objects. There are many ways to have a Pop Up Museum. And anyone can have one.

Anyone attending the conference is invited to bring an object related to your journey into art education to share, like a community show-and-tell!

Example questions to consider:

  • What is your first memory of art class?
  • What made you decide you wanted to be an art educator? When did you decide?
  • Who was an impactful teacher in your life? What did you learn from them?
  • Why are you an art educator?
After you think about these questions (and any other relevant questions) think about an object you could bring to help tell your story.

When & Where:

There will be a table set up Friday morning so you can check in your object and create a label. Come back later to see what others have brought to share and remember to take your object home with you when you leave!
